What is Title 24?

Construction in California must adhere to many codes and standards. Together, they make up what is known Title 24.

Title 24 is comprised of twelve parts. Each part of Title 24 deals with a specific area of building construction. Part 6 of Title 24 requires that all construction (assuming the building is conditioned, i.e. contains heating/cooling equipment) meet strict energy requirements.

Use task lighting
Instead of brightly lighting an entire room, focus the light where you need it.

Use fans instead of your A/C
A fan uses less than 1/10th the electricity used by an air-conditioner.

Put outdoor lights on motion sensors
so they will turn on only at night or when someone is present. A combined photocell and motion sensor will increase your energy savings even more.
